Growing Old Together-Wedding Invitation

I found this on A Cup of Jo in which she found it on See Saw Designs or maybe Mash Designs, and I loved it so much that I am posting it here as well.

So funny. I would love to get one of these in the mail.

What Not to Say To Your Wife

Funny yet depressing part of our conversation yesterday, it went as follows:

Paul: "So what do you want to do tonight?"

Me: "I think I am going to do a naked sexy dance for you."

Paul: "Do you mean the jiggly one?"

I about died.

Thanks honey that was really sweet of you. I had no idea I was so jiggly that that was your first thought. Needless to say, there was no naked sexy dance.

PS. School starts up again today. I have 2 classes on Mondays from 4:30-7:10 and then 7:20-10 pm. I am really excited actually. I also have class Tuesdays from 1:30-4 and Thursdays from 4:30-7:00. 12 Grad School Credits -- here we go.

This is for you Jo and all lovers of the movie You've Got Mail, (which my friend Jo and I will begin watching any day now and probably watch about 10-15 times this fall.)

Good Luck in School -- all my school going friends.

Attack of the Escalator 3... Eddie Bauer

We received the refund check yesterday and a gift card for $100. Sadly not $200 like I had wished for, but hey it is $100 more than we had the day before. Paul has already gone online and found a winter jacket that he wants.

Thanks Eddie Bauer for being so efficient and easy to work with regarding this accident. If you are reading this and are unaware of what I am talking about then see

Happy Birthday Big Brother

Aaron Michael Sutliff
August 27

Growing up and growing old is so much fun when it means that you get along with your sibling more and more. When Aaron and I were young, I believe it is safe to say that we had a intense love/hate relationship. Aaron tells a story that when he was like 8 and I was 5, we were playing and he made me mad. He says I looked him dead in the eyes and then I punched myself as hard as I could in the face and started screaming "Mom, Aaron hit me." Aaron was grounded for like a week for that one.

So sorry Aaron for all the times I got you in trouble.

One of my favorite memories is singing the National Anthem at his hockey games. He was always so proud of me and supportive of my singing. Every time after I would sing, he would skate over to me and hug me and give me a hockey puck.

These are some words I think of when I think of Aaron...

Protector. Jokester. Hockey Player. Dedicated. RESILIENT. Affectionate. Passionate. Hard Worker. Honest. Fisherman. Loyal. Friend. Brother. Son. Outstanding Father. Soldier. Pain in the Butt. Opinionated. Smart. MBA. FAMILY. Grounded.

Thanks for always wanting to kill all the boys I dated and thank you even more for not wanting or tying to kill Paul.

Here is a picture of a Caribou that my brother hunted in Alaska a couple of weeks ago. I am not really one for hunting, but my brother had a great time in Nome, AK and some surrounding native villages visiting a friend and hunting and fishing and probably farting and scratching.

He says it was an amazing experience he will remember for the rest of his life. This caribou is part of the Western Arctic Caribou Herd which is approximately 490,000 strong.

Aaron and his boy Hayden...like father like son. Cute.

Happy Birthday.
LOVE YOU.

I succeeded at Cooking

Well when I say cooking, does making homemade ice cream count?

I wanted homemade ice cream on Sunday and kind of made up my recipe, cause I didn't have whole milk so I used almond milk.

I used a Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

Homemade Oreo Ice Cream

1 Cup of Almond Milk
2 Cups of Cream
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp of vanilla
lots of oreos

Whisk together the almond milk and sugar until the sugar dissolves and then stir in the cream and vanilla.

Turn on ice cream maker and pour mixture into the freezer bowl and let it churn for 20-25. Add oreos for the last 5 mins of mixing.

And then eat it!!!

Cute Family/Wedding idea---Picnic Photos/Weekend

Shari can you come visit and take some of these? What a great birthday gift idea. I am loving this and will do it.

Photographer Brookelyn Photography took these photos and the whole shoot can be seen HERE.

In honor of her husband’s birthday, Elizabeth dedicated one of the benches in central park to him and surprised him with the decorated bench on his daily walk home from work. With a 6 layer chocolate cake from scratch, she surprised him with an impromptu cake picnic in the park with their daughter, complete with milk in mason jars, and the family dog, followed by some family photos.

Cute. Cute. Cute.

Everyone grab the ones you love and go for a picnic this coming weekend.

Chocolate Mayonnaise Cake

This may sound sick, but it is actually very delicious.

This is my dad's favorite cake and he requests it every year for his birthday and I thought I would share it.

3/4 cup Mayo
1 cup Sugar
2 cups Flour
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup water
1 cup chopped dates
1/4 cup melted chocolate
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon

Place the dates and nuts in a bowl. Bring the 1 cup of water to a boil and pour it over the dates and nuts and let it sit. Cream the mayo with the melted chocolate, sugar, and cinnamon.

Creat flour mixture by sifting flour and add salt and soda and sift again.

Add flour mixture to the cream mixture and then add the nut mixture (do not drain-nuts and dates will absorb most of the water).

Bake in a 9x13 pan at 350 got 30 min.

We always top it with whipped cream, but I am sure ice cream or frosting would be yummy too!

Enjoy!

guess the wedding couple

Married 41 Years

If you guessed my parents then you are correct. My hippie parents were wed on the 8th of June in 1969, on the shores of the beautiful Lake Tahoe. Look at my mom's beautiful legs ---they are so great.

This is the dress I was talking about that I would have loved to wear for my wedding, at least I think that now at the time I wanted a big dress that was beautiful too. (See post Vintage and Classic) I would have tried to match the lace on the waist and made cap sleeves out of it and added a little lace on the bottom to give it a little length to hit the top of my knees.

Wouldn't that have been great for a daughter to wear her mom's wedding dress? Did any of you wear your mom's wedding dress?
